Princess and the Frog ~ Review

December 16th 2009 in Feature Film, Review

princess_and_the_frogWell, maybe I had higher expectations before going into the theater of Princess and the Frog. I wanted another Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast. Okay, so I had high expectations. In that respect, this review is based on comparison to other Disney flicks.

Overall, it was a cute film but in comparison, there was a quality lacking. The music. I wanted some great Disney songs and I felt they didn’t really live up to the potential. They were good but not great.

Another aspect that I felt hurt the film more than added to it was all the stereotypical icons pushed toward the market they were demographically targeting. That made me shake my head. They could have been a little more clever for multiple reasons related to the evolution of...

Pandorum ~ Review

September 25th 2009

I was looking forward to watching Pandorum because of all the classic elements of space, sci-fi and creatures.  The first thirty minutes didn’t disappoint, either.  I loved the constant jumping it created along with the creepy tone.  The part that started to lose me was when all the exposition had to come out.  It went [...]

Defying Gravity ~ Review

August 2nd 2009

Granted, I’ve been distracted for the past month or so and have not contributed much to my blog.
However, I caught a new television series on tonight called, Defying Gravity, with Ron Livingston. A science fiction series with the dude from Office Space? Hell yes! But as I watched, I wondered. Are [...]

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince ~ Review

July 25th 2009

I finally went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince today.  At this point in the Harry Potter series, I have subsided my usual picking apart of films.  I feel like I’ve kept the book series separate from the film series which is probably for the best.  Rarely does a movie adaptation give [...]

Moon ~ Review

July 11th 2009

I had heard a little bit about the movie, Moon, and found myself curious.  Moon stars Sam Rockwell who does a beautiful job playing the character, Sam Bell.  I can’t say a whole lot about the story because there’s a twist.  And you really want to wait for the twist because it brings a lot [...]

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen ~ Review

June 24th 2009

Ah, how I love some Michael Bay.
I’ll start off and say that Transformers 2 wasn’t as good as the first one.  But we all know the typical rules of the sequel and how they usually don’t match up to the first film.  Now, I’m not saying that it was bad because it wasn’t.  Revenge of [...]

Drag Me to Hell ~ Review

May 30th 2009

Today was a good day to be alive because I got to go see the new Sam Raimi film, Drag Me to Hell, and I loved it!
The horror genre has suffered a great deal in the past eight years or more.  We got bombarded with gore porn such as Saw and Hostel but also lived [...]
